Hotel Prunieres (57€)
Very short day with lots of ups and downs, again through forests and meadows. The country here looks like California’s West Marin. Hotel had bathtub and towel warmer, welcome on a very dreary day. We had lunch at the Hotel Aubrac and then toured the town in the rain. We pondered a statue of le Bete (Beast) de Gévauden, a creature who roamed the area 240 years ago – and killed some 113 people! It is now believed to have been a rabid lynx. We bought water repellent for Nick’s jacket and mustard for future sandwiches. Back to hotel to do laundry. Couldn’t miss such a great opportunity to dry clothes on towel warming rack. Dinner OK… Bonnie had a good salad, pork tenderloin, cheese and an apple tart. Nick’s not so good… poor fish but great ice cream. Bon nuit.
