Getting There: Paris to Le Puy-en-Valey

This entry is part 1 of 38 in the series Part 1: Le Puy-en-Valey to Moissac

Gite des Capucins: (271€ for 3 days, inc. breakfast)

After an overnight flight from California, we arrived in Paris at 7:30 AM. Bus to Gare d’Lyon (33€) with three hours to explore station and eat… yum! First hint of French food to come! Changed 500 dollars to 330 Euros. Took train to Etienne, then transferred to local train to Le Puy. They held the train for us pelerins – pilgrims. We walked in the rain and then snow from the Le Puy train station to our Gite de Capucins, arriving at 6:00 PM. Out to dinner at Le Poivrier (69€). Tres bon! The gite is very nice… all white and quite roomy. To explain: Catering to pilgrms, gites offer dorm accommodations, typically four to a dozen double-decker beds to a room. But they often also have a few private rooms (qualifying them as, also, chamber d’hotes).
